If you're a maker of things handmade and eco-friendly, and live in the broader Lismore region, here's some info on how you can apply to become a stallholder at the Con Artists Markets:
As you are probably aware, the Con Artists Market is a relatively new market for Lismore (we turn one in September 2011!) and is held on the first Saturday of the month on the front lawn of the Conservatorium in conjunction with their cushion concerts. The market runs from 10am to 2pm, with set up for stallholders at 9am.
As a handmade makers market, all products need to be made by the stallholders themselves. Priority is given to locally based makers who create eco-friendly or low-impact products and ones that are not already represented by existing stallholders.
General stall allocation is 1.5 x 3m - half the space in a market marqee. This may be smaller than what you are accustomed to if you are a regular stallholder at other markets, however it is an important feature of our market and the stall fees are minimal - $10-20. Each stallholder is required to have insurance, by becoming a member of the Conservatorium. It is an annual fee of $15 and needs to be paid at the beginning of your first market, regardless of whether you have existing market insurance – it is a condition of our agreement with the Conservatorium.
What we need from you - the basic details of what you make and the eco-credentials of it, your contact details, blog/web presence etc if you have one and some pics emailed to us if you don't. We'll send you out our application form and go from there~ If you’ve never come along to the markets for a visit, you might want to do that before having a stall so you get a feel for what we’re about and how your products would go at the market.
Finally, the Con Artists Market is run by a small collective of craftsters for the love of community, crafting and local sustainability. We endeavor to promote each market through a diverse network. However, stallholders are strongly encouraged to actively participate in spreading the good word through their own networks so we get some healthy cross-pollination going on!
So if you reckon our market sounds like your cup of tea please do drop us a line - we would love to hear from you ♥
